EDUCATION TO EMPLOYMENT (E2E) PROJECT

About the Project

The purpose of the Laguna Community Foundation Education (LCF) to Employment (E2E) Project is to research  and define a set of practical workforce development recommendations that reflect the Pueblo of Laguna’s community needs, values, and POL Tribal Priorities to strengthen POL families, workers, employers, and economic infrastructure.

This two-year planning grant has allowed for us to better understand the POL Workforce by aligning the Pueblo's economic sustainability and prosperity with a focus on the People, or the Hanu. We recognize that Workforce Development occurs in many ways. However for the purpose of this project, we have drawn from research that focuses on the following areas:

  • Culturally-responsive and place-based strategies that seek to address the needs of people living in a particular community
  • Sector-based strategies that focus on matching workers' skills to needs in an industry already present in the region
  • Create Laguna situated career opportunities stemming from a locally designed demonstration training and certification process
  • Engage new investment and interest in a workforce development and career pathway collaborative approach
  •  Build local awareness in POL Laguna workforce development vision, along with recommendations for future implementation opportunities.

LCF’s role has been to support a clear and sustainable strategy that not only identifies solutions to workforce needs, but also identifies the type of education and work preparedness training that will resonate in Laguna, including work behaviors and life-skill development. A major outcome will be to

create job mobility toward high opportunity occupations while also addressing inequities yet to be confirmed as a result of an engaged cross-sector partnership.
